The Challenge
The side order prep process was manual, time-consuming, and labour-intensive. Frozen sides had to be removed from storage, arranged on trays lined with greaseproof paper, baked, and then manually transferred into cold pizza boxes. This multi-step approach led to slower service, higher staffing requirements during peak times, and increased risk of staff burns due to hot tray handling. Each order added seconds to prep time, and multiple touchpoints raised hygiene concerns.
The Solution
Servved collaborated closely with the client to develop a bespoke ovenable tray that streamlined the entire process. The new packaging moved directly from freezer to oven to branded sleeve, eliminating decanting and reducing handling. This innovation improved safety, saved time, and boosted food quality. With heat-retention benefits and a cool-touch exterior, the tray enhanced both back-of-house efficiency and the customer’s delivery experience.
